STAT in the NHL

STAT sterile spray is a tetraciane-based sterile anesthetic spray for the treatment of wounds. The spray technology and proprietary formulation eliminate the need for needle-injected anesthetic for debridement of wounds, suturing, and more.

STAT has demonstrated to be highly effective in a real-world operational environment. This was seen with the National Hockey League’s Florida Panthers’ medical staff.

The Florida Panthers used Bennett Pharma’s tetracaine-based spray for pain control during wound/trauma repair of their players in the pre-hospital setting. The wounds were managed in an efficient manner to get the players back to an operational level and back on the ice. The spray was utilized across a wide variety of traumatic injuries by the team’s dental and medical staff. Facial trauma and leg trauma were routinely managed with STAT spray. The results were exceptional.

In instances where conventional management would require multiple injections of lidocaine/epinephrine, the tetracaine-based spray allowed medical staff to treat extensive lacerations requiring deep muscle and superficial closure sutures. An extreme example involved a deep skate cut through the muscle belly of a player’s calf muscle. The team utilized STAT spray, eliminating multiple lidocaine/epinephrine injections, and resulted in immediate treatment without the morbidity involved with conventional treatments. Additionally, because of the viral and bacterial static properties of STAT, there were no post-op infection incidents across the spectrum of suture closure, wound repair, and debridement applications.
