Case No. One

A patient is being seen for a restorative procedure that requires the administration of injectable anesthetic both buccally and across the palate throughout the maxillary arch.  The patient self-reports a history of being anxious and “dreading the needle.”  Orlacaine is applied with a Luer tip at each anticipated injection site both on the buccal and the palatal side, no nitrous oxide analgesia is administered.

A 5-minute wait time is observed.  The injectable anesthesia is administered throughout the maxilla, both palatally and buccally.  The patient reports no discomfort, but “was still scared.”  Patient states that they “would request that stuff again.”
